To me, They Rock.
Why?
– It amplifies the hell out of my Mac Book Pro, Iphone, Ipad and whatever devices that I would have that has a earphone jack.
– I can take it anywhere, from the comfort of my room, to the beach and most practically when I travel.
– It’s Mini, runs on internal batteries, rechargeable by USB, so no more lugging around of a powersupply just to have great LOUD sounds coming out of my hotel room.
– No power supply meaning I won’t have to worry about the local voltage of the country I’m in.
– I can pump the groove in the toilet while I pump some other stuff out 😉
– It’s the real deal, and kicks the ass out of the fakes with a meagre difference in price.
– It’s way sturdier than the fakes, throw it in your luggage, your laptop bag, your handbag, pull it out anytime and rock on!
– A fresh take on my mixes and productions while I’m on the go other than relying on my Monster Beats headphones
– Mine’s a cool looking red egg
– It’s the ultimate portable speakers for my portable audio devices for far, U’ll want it 😉
– It’s invented by a Singaporean.
Actually I heard of this brand of speakers about 1-2 years ago thru a friend, but never actually saw how it looks or heard how it sounds. It was only recently I got my hands on one. That’s when I realized I actually bought a fake one last Christmas! And while I was real excited how loud those fakes sounded, they were crappy stuff that couldn’t last. Throw it in my luggage and when it comes out, I have to persuade it to work. I actually went thru 2 of those. Zzzz…
So now I know, X Mini is the real deal and it’s invented by a Singaporean! Respect!
Now that I finally experienced the real thing, yeaahhh it rocks! If it’s from a consumer point of view, U can easily understand why from the advantages I wrote above. But from a musician point of view, here’s how it works for me.
With the portable recording studio becoming more and more advanced, I can easily do arrangements, editing of tracks, recording vocals/instruments on the road. Sometimes I use these recordings as it is, for demoes and stuff. And other times I take it back to my home studio and continue working on it. But whatever it is, I would need some form of audio monitoring while I’m working at it. I can’t possibly lug monitor speakers wherever I go, and headphones are great but your ears will tire out if you rely on them all the way. And of course when U wanna let more than one person to hear your stuff at the same time, the headphones wouldn’t allow that. With a quick set up, the X Mini allows me an alternative to headphones for monitoring with the added advantage of blasting music loud to others without much added weight or luggage space.
As for checking mixes, we usually put our mixes thru different speakers just to get a different take on things. I definitely wouldn’t say the X Mini has superior audiophile reference quality sound, and actually it distorts if U abuse it or use it wrongly. But I will for sure use it to check my mixes in future. Reason is being, not everyone will have the luxury to listen their music thru studio reference speakers. In fact lots of people listen to their music thru their TV speakers, laptop or thru their headphones etc. That’s the reason why I always take my mixes thru at least 4 sets of different speakers/headphones. And now I can add the X Mini in to check my mixes too coz I believe it’s a good reference for a more superior way of listening to portable music on the go.
So yeaahhh, whether it’s for work(maybe some of U guys need to do presentations that require audio to heard) or for play (for me, it’s the same thing 😉 ) X Mini rocks my world! Thanks!
